The School District of Palm Beach County has recommended a salary freeze across all positions for the current school year, citing a projected $15 million budget shortfall. The proposal is not described as final.
The district lost nearly 6,000 students this school year, resulting in a $60 million reduction in state revenue. It has also eliminated 1,200 positions and implemented a hiring freeze.
A separate recurring 2.187% base-salary increase is due for qualifying instructional employees with at least 10 years of Florida public school experience under an agreement with the Classroom Teachers Association.
