A Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputy fatally shot a 54-year-old suspect on October 13, 2026, after a vehicle pursuit ended near Jog Road and Woolbright Road in West Boynton Beach.

PBSO said deputies located the suspect’s vehicle in Lake Park and tried to stop it. The driver fled, and a pursuit continued south with Florida Highway Patrol assistance. The vehicle stopped between Grand Isle Drive and Woolbright Road. The suspect ran from the vehicle with what appeared to be a shirt or towel wrapped around his right arm, according to PBSO. The agency said he did not follow commands, and less-lethal force had no effect. PBSO said he took cover behind concrete pillars and assumed a firing stance before a deputy shot him. He died at the scene.

The deputy was placed on administrative leave. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office and PBSO are investigating.
